Just wondering, lol. What types of books do you read?
I read medieval fantasy, my obsession started (of course) with Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and I am now thoughly obsessed with the fandom and have read some of the historys - The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales and part of the History of Middle Earth.
My other favourite authors are: Robert Jordan (The Wheel of Time), George R.R. Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire), Trudi Canavan (The Black Magican Trilogy), David & Leigh Eddings (The Elenium, The Tamuli, The Belgariad, The Malloreon) & David A. Gemmell (The Rigante Series, The Drenai (sp?) Books).
I am currently reading Blood and Gold, book 3 part 2 of A Song of Ice and Fire, The Riddle book 2 of the Pelinnor Trilogy by Alison Croggon and The Silmarillion for the third time.

This year my interest in reading has kind of dwindled. We've been reading way too many boring books in english, so I've gotten bored with reading in general. It's kinda sad. When I do read, it's usually a horse-oriented book or a mystery.

Yay Iluri! You & I share a taste in books! I haven't read all of those you listed, but have read most. I have over 300 books, all of which are fantasy type.
Not to mention, I absolutely adore July 16th this year ;D

I will read anything. Literally. I can be found reading my little sister's Nancy Drew books if I can't find anything better.
My taste does tend to run towards fantasy though. I love Robert Jordan (re-reading the WOT series for about the 5th time right now) and I also really enjoy Tamora Pierce even though her books are a bit 'young' for me. I used to be a huge Harry Potter fan (I even have several of the British editions) but I find Harry as a person annoying as of late. I still can't wait for the next book though..
I guess my favorite authors would be Tom Robbins and Chuck Palhaniuk (Fight Club), and my favorite book of all time would be Gone With the Wind.

Belle -- I completely see where you are coming from. I am probably one of the BIGGEST romantics in this world. I have read just about every Nora Roberts book (about 100+) there is. I also HEART Nicholas Sparks. He is a romance genius (I have never read a book of his and been left dry-eyed). I have read a lot of Barbara Delinsky, Sandra Brown and Luanne Rice as well.
BUT, I also love all four Dan Brown's books (The DaVinci Code, Angels & Demons, Digital Fortress and Deception Point).
Ummm... let's see. I also love Jean Auel's The Earth Child Series (Clan of the Cavebear, The Valley of Horses, Mammoth Hunters, Plains of Passage and Shelters of Stone).
Oh, and Sarah Ash is a very good author too, with two of her fantasy books, Lord of Snow and Shadows and Prisoner of the Iron Tower.
And for a bit of mystery/suspense, Jeffrey Archer's Kane and Abel was AWESOME. -dreamy look- I love reading books.

Cool Odette...I LOVE Nora Roberts. On a whim last summer I borrowed the first book in the key series and I was hooked-I was foaling out my mare at the time, so I had PLENTY of time to read it in the tackroom at night haha. My favorite novels are fantasy/sci-fi, so I naturally chose that one. It was really quite a good series. It was kinda funny because my mom actually really likes Nora Roberts too. Normally I'm not big on romance novels LOL ;D I love Tamora Pierce among many others-will add them later.

Awesome ^___^ If you like a kind of fantasy theme, you should read (if you haven't already) Nora Roberts' The Donovan Legacy. The characters are witches and warlocks. It was the first book of hers that I had read... and it hooked me.

how weird is this? everyone here seems to be recommending books that I either already really liked (Tamora Pierce >___<) or am interested in looking up currently.
Memoirs of a Geisha and Girl With A Pearl Earring were the last two I've read. Not bad at all. I envy the authors' writing. =.=

Yea, her other book, Lucky, is an autobiography about her rape as a college student. It is a tear-jerker.

I've read a lot of Stephen King novels, Mary Higgins Clark, John Grisham, and my favorite author is Danielle Steel. For any of those people who enjoy romance with a bit of conflict and suspense, I'd suggest her. She's a superb writer.

Wow it's interesting to see how any people read The Wheel of Time and The Sword of Truth Series. I'm in love with both of them. (P.S. What is the new SoT book called? I NEED it, lol.) I've read hrough book 8 in WoT and I have the rest. I'd like to find time to re-read before I finish the series. Song of Fire and Ice is PURE AWESOME. I couldn't put down the first one but I can't find my copy of the second one to finish it.
I'll pretty much read anything you put in front of me. I have a few series to suggest though to the fantasy afficianidos: Dhampir, the Green Rider, anything by Jane Lindskold, anything by Gareth Nix (Sabriel is the first book), Michael Moorthingy's Elric series, Alic Borchardt, Shadow Moon, and Memory,Sorrow, and Thorn.
Yeah... I read ALOT. I also enjoyed romance novels for a time, but my mom couldn't buy them fast enough to keep me happy. One series in particular though... well author is Christine Feehan.

Lately- the stuff I'm forced to read for my advanced placement english class But mostly I'm into scifi. Even if you generally don't read scifi, I highly recommend anything by Robert J Sawyer. Awesome awesome awesome author! He's won the Hugo, the Nebula and the Aurrora!
